“Knowledge, Integrity, and Vision…” Senior Nitish Minister Critiques RJD in Two Lines, Highlights Bihar’s Past Poverty

Patna, Bihar: The Winter Session 2025 of the Bihar Assembly concluded amid intense political debate. On the final day, the RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) made a vigorous attempt to corner the government. However, a senior minister from Nitish Kumar’s cabinet decisively countered the opposition in just two lines, leaving RJD members speechless.

Opposition Raises Questions

During the session, RJD MLA and former minister Alok Mehta questioned the government over funding for the Chief Minister Women Employment Scheme and other programs. Mehta raised concerns about whether these schemes could be sustained in the long term. Opposition members repeatedly interrupted during responses, challenging the government’s accountability.

Senior Minister Steps In

Minister of Rural Development, Shravan Kumar, initially responded with detailed figures, but frequent interruptions from the opposition led the Speaker to hand over the floor to the most senior and experienced minister, Bijendra Prasad Yadav. Known as a trusted aide of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Yadav’s intervention was both concise and impactful.

Two Lines That Silenced the RJD

Bijendra Prasad Yadav highlighted Bihar’s fiscal turnaround, contrasting past mismanagement under Lalu Prasad Yadav with Nitish Kumar’s governance. He said:

“The supplementary budget is not arbitrary. In the past, when Bihar faced severe financial crises, people used to joke that only ‘Lalu, Balu, and potatoes remained’ while Bihar struggled to survive with a budget of just 25–26 thousand crore. Today, thanks to CM Nitish Kumar’s knowledge, integrity, and vision, the budget has grown to over 3 lakh crore. When a leader possesses honesty, character, and knowledge, financial constraints do not exist. Funds are raised from the public and spent for the public, unlike the fodder or sand scams of the past.”

When RJD members protested, Yadav silenced them with one more line:

“Stop speaking, or I will reveal even more. There is no crisis of integrity in Nitish Kumar; hence, there will never be a shortage of funds.”

Impact on the Assembly

With this intervention, the senior minister effectively countered the opposition’s accusations, emphasizing Bihar’s progress under Nitish Kumar’s leadership and underlining the contrast with the RJD era’s alleged mismanagement.
