
Patna: Bihar is set to witness a historic political event as Nitish Kumar prepares to take oath as Chief Minister for the 10th time. Joining him as Deputy Chief Ministers will be Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha. The grand swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 20th November at Gandhi Maidan, Patna, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several prominent national leaders expected to attend.
Formation of the New Government
Following a decisive mandate for the NDA in the Bihar Assembly elections, government formation has entered its final phase. On Wednesday, JDU legislative members convened at the Chief Minister’s residence, unanimously electing Nitish Kumar as the leader of the party’s legislative group. On the BJP side, Samrat Chaudhary was chosen as the leader and Vijay Sinha as the deputy leader, in a meeting attended by Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya, acting as central observer.
Grand Ceremony Preparations Underway
The swearing-in ceremony at Gandhi Maidan has been meticulously planned, with arrangements made for the expected presence of dignitaries and citizens from across the state. JDU national working president Sanjay Kumar Jha confirmed that the state governor will be approached to complete the formalities of government formation, following the legislative party elections.
Bihar Election Verdict
The NDA secured a clear majority with 202 seats in the 243-member Bihar Assembly. The BJP won 89 seats, while Nitish Kumar’s JDU claimed 85 seats. Chirag Paswan’s LJP (R) contested 29 seats and won 19, making it the third-largest party in the NDA and fourth-largest in the state. The HAM and RLSP won 5 and 4 seats, respectively.
This marks a new term for an experienced leadership team in Bihar, signaling continuity as well as stability in the state’s political landscape.
