Jaipur: The Rajasthan government has gone into strict enforcement mode following the recent fatal accident in Jaipur’s Harmada area. In a major crackdown on traffic violations, the government has announced that driving a car or bike above 60 km/h within city limits will now lead to an FIR, not just a challan. What’s more — even the first offence could result in cancellation of your driving license.
Until now, overspeeding in urban areas was punishable only by a fine. However, after the tragic Harmada incident, Jaipur Traffic Police has decided to take stronger legal action against offenders to curb reckless driving.
